THE EXPERIENCE I NEEDED …
Weddings were never really my forte during those days but my friend approached me and asked if I would be interested in being her sister’s wedding photographer. I was a student at Humber College’s Creative Photography 2nd year program during that time and since it was my first wedding ; Unfortunately I did not receive full payment due to the fact I didn’t present a signed contract ( first lesson learned the hard way ) Well — It’s safe to say that I never wanted to be a wedding photographer after that experience but as the years progressed, the digital age kicked in and who knew. Here I am , wiser, smarter , FASTER ….. and a helluvalot more confident than ever !
THE FIRST STEP … MY FIRST WEDDING !
Sometime around 1996-1997 . I shot my very first wedding with my friend Pearl’s sister ( Eileen ) . It was my first time shooting a wedding with a Mamiya 645 camera that used 120 film !!! Oh boy - although it was a bit intimidating at first - I had the confidence to do it and I pulled through the day - I still remember how tired I was after the wedding that the moment I got inside our place … i fell asleep on the stairs !!
I never got a chance to scan the rest of the images ( they’re in binders in the storage room ) but here are some quick snaps of Eileen in her lovely gown from her wedding !
